This was the first novel-length book I read on my own without anyone’s help, and it’s left me with more than a lifelong preference for pigs. Charlotte’s Web’s quiet love for every spider, rat and summer breeze is something I’ve tried to have in my everyday life. It’s a good read for anyone who believes a little empathy can go a long way. The accompanying 1973 animated movie is also a lifetime favourite.
